About Michael Todd Wood, MD, FACS
Michael Todd Wood, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon and laparoscopic surgery specialist with practice locations in Houston and Sugar Land, Texas. He’s well-known for his expert surgical skills and commitment to providing patient-oriented care in a warm and compassionate environment.
This Houston native attended Rice University for his undergraduate education. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Texas – Houston Medical School and completed his surgical training at the same institution. Dr. Wood then received an MBA from Rice University.
Dr. Wood’s stellar reputation as a specialist in minimally invasive laparoscopic general surgery has grown during his 20 years of experience. His expertise includes surgical treatment for various cancers, including colon, skin, and breast cancers. He’s also an expert in hernia repair as well as laparoscopic fundoplication and Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease. Dr. Wood also performs thyroid and parathyroid surgery, gallbladder removal, and gastric neurostimulator placement for severe gastroparesis.
He’s currently the managing partner of Southwest Surgical Associates, LLP in Houston and is affiliated with many hospitals, including Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, where he previously served as Chief of Staff, and currently serves as Chairman of the Department of General Surgery. He is also affiliated with Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital, Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, and CHI St. Luke’s Health – Sugar Land Hospital.
